A lot of people have asked what plugins I'm working on, so I'll give a
description of some of them here.
1. AutoPatcher - Will patch your WHOLE spline cage object, in one press
of the button. No more picking sets of three or four and patching each
one by hand. Just select the whole object, press the button and BAMMM!
There will be two. One will use Lightwaves internal patcher function, for
those patches with multi knoted edges. The other will use an Fspline
patch, and give you smoother results than many of the other spline
programs which use standard C1 curves.
2. MetaFit - If you ever used Metaform, you'll know that after your object
is Metaformed, its size and shape is different from the original object
used to make it which is not wrong, it tends to through a lot of people
off who don't understand what Metaform is. So MetaFit will Metaform your
object so that it keeps as close as possible to the same size and shape as
the original object, before it was Metaformed.
3. Metaform Animator- Allows you to animate your simple polygon object in
Layout, and then at render time, it will be Metaformed and replaced by
the Metaformed object. This lets you animate with fewer points, giving
you faster screen updates, and the animation is smoother because the
bones and morphing are working on the simple polygon object, and the new
object is created after, through Metaforming.
4. Metaballs - Yes there will be metaballs in Lightwave, both as an
animation and modeling tool. You can create creatures with seamless joins
between arms and legs and do those jellowee Odo like Star Trek Ds9 effects.
I'm also working on something called MetaSplines; which is as the name
implies, what Metaform does with polys, except with Bsplines and Fsplines.
Also working on Pluging all or parts of FreeForm 3D Bspline modeler in to
Lightwave.
And more. Some of them are more difficult to descirbe in words and you
have to see them to understand. There are some texture manipulation stuff
for Layout, but I can't work on it much until able to run Lightwave,
because I have to actually see what's going on. There will be more as
people come up with more ideas, and I get more familiar with the various
parts and abilities of the plugin servers.
I plan on making them for all the Platforms, but the Amiga and PC ones
will be first because I have easier acces to them.
When will they be ready? As soon as I receive my Lightwaves from Newtek
and see if they plugin ok. The animation stuff will come some time after
that. Stuart said that the Animation replacement plugin access
won't be ready for a few more weeks, and its a more complicated thing to
work with.
Look out Alias.
Step aside SoftImage.
Move over Animation Master.
We have arrived.
